Holy Week Address
On Holy Week, Republicans are focused on celebrating our nation’s many blessings and, for Christians, the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are grateful that our government is taking steps to protect Americans from the most dangerous elements of the perhaps 10 million illegal aliens who entered our country under the previous administration, in blatant violation of our laws. We are grateful for the steps taken to restore our manufacturing base and provide jobs to millions of our citizens who were deprived of them due to ill-conceived trade policies. We are blessed our military is returning to its position as the pre-eminent force for good worldwide. We thank God that confused children are no longer being permanently scarred and sterilized by horrific medical procedures under the “Newspeak” abomination of “gender affirming care”. And we are particularly grateful for the steps taken to reduce waste and fraud in our Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid systems, as well as across government, so as to reduce our annual deficits to sustainable levels. This will ensure the financial security of our seniors, maintain a reliable safety net for those in need, and prevent the resurgence of the inflation that wracked our country and decimated our small business community under the prior administration. Truly, our entire nation is blessed that these long-overdue actions are being taken, and public opinion polls generally show broad support for these actions.
It is sad and a little puzzling that some on the other side of the aisle are protesting these common-sense actions. However, one must realize that these are not, in the main, legitimate indications of public opposition to the actions listed above, but rather are synthetic efforts funded by socialist billionaires such as George Soros and others. Yes, some of the participants have simply been misled through powerful marketing programs to believe obvious lies about the current administration. But in the main, we believe these are “astroturf” operations that would cease to exist if their funding sources dried up.
To be clear, the people who were getting fantastically rich during the last administration, off the backs of regular Americans, are fighting to protect their gravy train. They want to continue looting our treasury, and continue suppressing the American spirit of independence, self-reliance, ingenuity, and caring for our neighbors, and replace it with a top-down, all-consuming blanket of government control over every facet of our lives. Most Americans, by far, reject that.
So, even more than most days, we celebrate today during Holy Week and thank God for our many blessings. We hope to connect with those who have been misled by the forces of evil, and earn their support through an open discussion of the overwhelming goodness of the steps being taken by the current administration, and how this will help We The People - all Americans - and especially those most in need.
